Shown left, this new rose from Jackson & Perkins won the company's Floribunda of the year award. A deep banana-yellow color, it has a strong licorice or anise scent that can fill an entire room.
The blooms appear on stems about 12 inches long, with a petal count of 25-30 and a flower size about four inches in diameter.
The foliage is glossy dark green on a plant that'll reach about four feet in height. Plant a few of these together to brighten up a corner of the garden.
If you're looking for an unusual color as a focal point, you might want to try this smoky red cinnamon rose with accents of cream. It's only about two feet high, and with little fragrance, but it would certainly be standout almost anywhere in the border.
Stems about 12 inches and bloom size about two inches across, making them perfect for a small bouquet.
Beach Blanket
This new rose might be perfect for the smaller garden ... it's a groundcover rose, said to be very tough and maintenance free, and cheery pink blooms that last throughout the summer season.
There's just a slight fragrance on plants that are about 30 inches high and two feet wide, with very glossy, medium green foliage.
Good choice for a hanging basket or spilling from a planter ... or a planting bed next to a garden area where you want color and blooms beside the patio or pool.
You could get intoxicated just looking at this rose, not to mention it's strong fragrance of clove.
Deep magenta blooms about four inches wide, and the plant has a columnar, upright habit that'll reach a height of about four feet.
Nice accent rose, especially if you plant it against a deep green background.
