When I was in DC last fall, a walk through Georgetown reminded me how much I miss the ginkgo trees. Many don't like them because if you happen to get a female, the fruits that drop in fall have a very pungent smell. But male or female, you can't beat the fall color.
I love the yellow carpet that fills the brick sidewalks when the leaves drop, and of course ginkgos are also great urban trees -- tall and narrow and stately ... and very tolerant of urban pollution.
I might even consider a couple as specimens in my back yard.

I love them too. I'm planning to add a few "Mariken"s to my roof this spring.
