There's still time to catch this fascinating exhibit on New Public Spaces for Recreation, which runs through October 1st in NYC.
Sponsored by the Van Alen Institute, you can catch it at Hudson River Park's Pier 40, West Side Highway at West Houston St., Wed through Fri 10AM-7PM, Sat & Sun 12 noon-6PM. The exhibit explores the reinvention of public spaces in urban areas to meet the needs of 21st century leisure. It features a number of international projects by Greyworld, Hood Design, SHoP Architects, Acconci Studio & several others. And don't miss Crossroads -- an urban game powered by GPS-equipped mobile phones and inspired by Mardi Gras in New Orleans: it's a strategy game played by two people, beginning at the exhibition site on Pier 40 & continuing out onto the streets of Mahattan. Have Fun.
