Garden Design Online is celebrating its first anniversary this week, and I'd like to thank all of my readers, wherever you may be. I do know that many of you are in the United States, but I've also have readers far and wide across the globe who all share this wonderful interest in landscape design and horticulture.
I wasn't sure exactly where this blog would be after a year, but I've kept going because all of you have kept me going. Interestingly enough, one of my most popular posts has been one of the first ones I wrote -- All Boxed In -- from October 4th, 2005. And even better, two weeks ago I visited this same boxwood garden at the American Horticultural Society in Alexandria, VA and I can report that all of the boxwoods have grown substantially (despite their normal turtle-like pace). Pictured are Jim Stauffer boxwood on the left and Justin Browers on the right. Bob Saunders of Saunders Brothers nursery says 300 boxwood were planted at the AHS last year, and so far, they haven't lost one. So if you're in the DC area and want to see a garden of new boxwood cultivars, this is the one to visit.
I hope to add new features this year -- if I ever can find the time -- and I hope all of you will let me know what you like and what you don't like about this blog. Please let me hear from you about upcoming events in your area, great garden tours, and anything else of news to the substantial and growing family on this web page.
Again, thanks to you all for making this blog what it is -- and I hope you'll find the next year just as informative and just as interesting.
Best regards to all
