Frontgate has lush chair cushions -- made of sunbrella fabric -- in many patterns, colors, and sizes. They won't fade in the sun, they're water repellent, and they're said to resist chlorine, soil, and stains. And they wipe clean with a sponge. Pillows and more on the website.
Also from Frontgate, this elegant Oak Park Residence cast stone planter -- a reproduction of a Frank Lloyd Wright design. A little different from most planters you see in garden centers -- but it would actually work in a traditional or a modern garden. It comes in cream or limestone and has a 10 year warranty against freeze-thaw damage. There are also three other Wright designs in the series.
For something quite different, check out the birdfeeders (actually steel sculptures) made by sculptor Joe Papendick. You'll have a truly unique backyard platform/
For the rose lover, All America Rose Selections has a 26-minute documentary film called "Love at First Sight: America's Affair with the Rose." It includes inteviews with top rose breeders and, according to AARS board Steve Hutton, "remarkable stories of creativity, passion, and survival behind American roses."
For the true plant enthusiast, check your local garden center for these miniatures from Monrovia which can be planted outside after the holidays. The smaller plants are quart-sized specimens that come in a silver or gold ceramic pot, and there are nearly 30 plants to choose from, including junipers and arborvitaes, viburnums and camellias, spruces and pines.
The larger plants are planted in green containers and there are 13 of these plants, from Callicarpa bodinieri to creeping junipers and more arborvitaes.
At the Monrovia website, you can type in your zip code to find a garden center in your area that carries the Christmas collection.
