To a Theater Near You .... opens in NY, LA, and elsewhere Jan 26th.
"Breaking and Entering"
Yes! A movie about a landscape architect!
Will (Jude Law) is a partner in a successful landscape architecture firm in the King's Cross area of London. It's got hip young professionals and recently-arrived immigrants, all thrown together in a seedy area undergoing a transformation into a new, 21st century city. Having lived within walking distance of King's Cross back in the 80s, I can testify that it indeed is in need of a drastic update.
Will's firm, Green Effect, is actually a misnomer. Will hates plants, flowers, lawns, any type of greenery -- and likes to use concrete in the stark forms of walls, paving, buildings, and roads in the design of public spaces. We should all see this to believe it.
Anyway ... someone breaks into the firm's offices repeatedly, and Will becomes determined to catch the culprits. During the chase, he meets a Bosnian woman (Juliette Binoche), which causes a crisis in his troubled relationship with a beautiful Swedish-American (Robin Wright Penn). Directed by Anthony Minghella, who won an Oscar for "The English Patient."
And, it has a very good review in this week's (Jan 29th) New Yorker.
