Robert Redford will host a 13-part weekly series on environmental topics beginning April 17th on the Sundance Channel. THE GREEN (TM) includes original series and documentaries on the earth's ecology and "green" living, with the emphasis on "information, practical advice, and community building."
Each week, the program will begin with a documentary series entitled "Big Ideas for a Small Planet" that highlights a particular innovator or innovation that could transform our everyday lives. There will also be a segment devoted to recurring commentators, including activists, scientists, writers, and environmental personalties.
Designers and homeowners might particularly be interested in the April 24th program focusing on an architect working with clients on their first "green" home; and ways to bring "green" living to low-income neighborhoods. The May 1st program features a Portland, OR, real estate developer who turns a polluted brownfield into a sustainable community.
Other topics in the series include the global oil crisis, the "cradle to cradle" recycling movement promoted by American architect & designer William McDonough, and high-fashion clothes made from eco-friendly fabrics.
Sounds like a reason to turn on the tube.
