Yep, it's already that time of year again...and the best time for designers, serious gardeners and plants-people to get out there and learn how to make your garden great. Looking at the work of others with a critical eye and absorbing their creative inspiration is one of the best ways to learn about artistic and original design.
This year's Garden Conservancy Open Days begin next weekend (on April 7th) in Vero Beach, FL ... and they don't conclude until October 20th in Dallas, TX. Some new locations this year include Colorado, Delaware, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Michigan drops off the tour this year.
The garden pictured here, in Wilton, CT, will be open on Saturday, June 2nd. The three-acre site has a number of different garden "rooms," including a dwarf conifer garden, a daylily garden with 70 cultivars, a large woodland garden, a wildflower garden, perennial cutting garden, and more. It was featured in the April 2002 issue of Garden Design Magazine.
Check this site's monthly "Happenings" list to find Garden Conservancy and other local garden tours in your own part of the country. Then get out your notepads and cameras and go to work.
