It had to happen. But in case you missed the story, get last Friday's Wall Street Journal (June 8, 2008) to read June Fletcher's report, "Giving Up on the Outdoors." How about the Las Vegas homeowner who spent $200,000 on his back yard -- improvements that attracted local pigeons to roost just above the deck. Fire ants nesting in outdoor stereo speakers, anyone? Squirrels who like to gnaw on teak furniture? Birds dropping berries that clog the fountain jets? How about rats and snakes attracted by food droppings in and around outdoor kitchens and grills? Fletcher's full report is both hilarious and shocking -- and just thank yourself that you weren't the designer who suggested all those fancy accoutrements in the first place. And get a copy of the article without delay.
