The LA Conservancy is sponsoring a tour of some rare Japanese gardens on Sunday -- "LA: 100 Years of Japanese-Style Garden Making." The tour includes the recently-restored Storrier-Stearns garden in Pasadena, a Japanese-style estate designed in the 1930's by Kinzuchi Fujii. Also: The James Irvine Japanese Garden in Little Tokyo designed by Takeo Uesugi; residential gardens of Norton Avenue in Leimert Park; the Roosevelt High School garden in Boyle Heights, first built in the 30's by the school's Japanese Club and now re-built. And, bonsai demonstrations at San Gabriel Nursery & Florist.
