There's more than a foot of snow on the ground at my house ... still falling ... and 20 to 30 inches predicted before it's over.
And although spring is still six official weeks away, it IS on the way.
This winter blooming jasmine has already started emerging (just barely) ... and I'd never before noticed the purple-pink buds... it actually gave the entire wall a pink cast in daylight.
But there's nothing that says spring like witch hazel ... this one my own 'Jalena,' in full bloom just before it got covered in snow.
So ... enjoying the (hopefully) last snow ... hunkering down ...
Sigh.
Spring will arrive but this winter has seemed longer than most.
I pulled weeds today until it felt like my hands had frozen. I just had to be out there doing garden activities.
Transplanting lettuce seedlings in the garden shed later in the day saved my garden-deprived sanity.
Come spring we'll all be in a panic with the thrill of it, as though spring had never come quite the same ever before.
