The American Chestnut, which once carpeted most of the mid-Atlantic to New England, was mostly killed off in the last century by a blight brought in from overseas. But now, it looks like this iconic East coast tree is making a comeback.

I actually planted 5 chestnut trees last year. A university forestry department was selling them via mail. Four are still alive.
I love chestnuts but confess I mostly use them in desserts.

I have heard the "Christmas Song" a million times and never actually ate a chestnut roasting or otherwise. Thanks for the article.
