One of things I don't like about living in Massachusetts is that I'm going to miss yet another plant sale at the US National Arboretum in DC -- this year the members' only sale is Friday April 27 from 10AM to 1PM (and readers, it's worth joining just for this, as they always have many things you can't find anywhere else). Otherwise the sale runs from Friday the 27th from 1PM-4PM and Saturday the 28th from 9AM to 4PM.
My garden here is filled with plants I acquired there over the years -- two paw paw trees, a bottlebrush buckeye, a dwarf upright holly (I forget which one!) -- and many others. If you're within range of DC, well worth a trip. And I sure regret leaving many of the other plants I left in the ground when we sold our house in DC -- but you can't take everything with you.
This year's sale also includes 600 books on design, horticulture, etc from the library of a long-time member who died last month. Many a treasured volume, I'm sure.
