Take a tour of DC's greatest gardens and landscape architecture with the new online guide from ASLA. Descriptions of more than 75 sites are written by some of the city's top landscape architects.
From the Ellipse in back of the White House to Meridian Hill Park (a real gem) ... and the more well-known gardens like Hillwood Museum & Gardens, the Enid Haupt Garden on the Mall, and Dumbarton Oaks, shown here, it is definitely something you'll want to consult before you visit the DC area.
The guide is divided into 16 "tours" of specific areas like Georgetown, Upper NW DC, Capitol Hill, Brookland, the Pentagon, etc -- which makes it easy to plan a visit.
Aside from the historic parks and gardens, the guide also contains descriptions of new, sustainable sites like the Diamond Teague Waterfront Park on the Anacostia River that includes water-cleansing wetlands.
