The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has just released its online guide to Boston. It's an online guided tour of 100 historic, modern, and contemporary Boston landscapes, from the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site in Brookline to the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway, to the Arnold Arboretum and the enchanting Courtyard of the Isabella Stewart Garden Museum.
Each separate "tour" is conducted by a prominent landscape architect, covers multiple neighborhoods or separate landscapes, and includes a printable walking or biking map. ASLA president Thomas R. Tavella says the guide will answer questions most people didn't even know they had about some of their favorite places. "Boston's vibrant public realm didn't just magically appear but was carefully designed over the years, and is continually evolving," he said. Among the guides are landscape architects from Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Sasaki Associates, Reed HIlderbrand, Hargreaves Associates and the Klopfer Martin Design Group, just to name a few.
