Just got an e-mail from Terra Sculpture, which reminds us all that we need to put things other than plants in the garden to carry us through those times when we have long winters. Terra's "Embrace" sculpture looks fabulous in the wintry landscape covered with snow --
And even these trellises -- of various shapes -- let us see the bones of the garden when nothing's yet popping through the earth. It's sometimes hard to appreciate the overall design when everything's covered in green, so select some objects that will show up in the snow -- or stand out when all else is brown.
As for my garden, there are buds about to burst on my Cornelian cherry trees and on my winter-blooming jasmine ... and the daylilies (though not any bulbs) are just beginning to peek through. Spring cannot be that far off, though it's below freezing here again for the next two days.
