These lovely new roses are from Star Roses & Plants ... available sparingly at garden retail centers in 2016, so shop for them early and shop in well-known retail garden centers.
Apricots n' Cream™
(Rosa 'Meihyalfeu')
A gorgeous new hybrid tea hybridized by Meilland International (sure looks like a Meilland rose!) ... a vigorous growth habit, blooms of ivory to light apricot, and dark green glossy leaves. It's said to have much better disease resistance than most hybrid teas, and it re-blooms from time to time throughout the season.
It's only drawback for rose lovers is the slight fragrance. Five feet tall, three wide, zones 5-9.
Sultry Sangria™
(Rosa 'Sprosul')
It's not often that you come across a rose of this color, but it sure would make a statement in the garden, especially if planted en masse. It's a floribunda, up to 5.5 feet high and three feet wide. The flower color can vary -- purple to pink -- with growing conditions, and it performs best on the West Coast. But if you can achieve the purple, you'll have a real winner.
It has a bushy habit, zones 6-9, hybridized by Jim Sproul.
Honey Nectar™
(Rosa 'Radnectar')
An apricot-colored grandiflora with hues of orange, dark green, glossy foliage that is very resistant to black spot, even on the humid East Coast. It has an upright habit with a height of five feet. Zones 5 to 9, hybridized by Will Radler.
Gold Struck™
(Rosa 'Meizambaizt')
Here's another grandiflora with excellent disease resistance, and the blooms on this one also deepen to orange from time to time. It has an upright growth habit, dark green leaves, and the petals flare out to about four inches when the flower opens.
Up to five and half feet tall, hybridized by Meilland International. Zones 5-9.
White Drift®
(Rosa 'Meizorland')
For those of us who love the drift roses for groundcovers, now there's a white one, too. With a height of 1.5 feet (mine were always taller) and a spread of 2.5 feet, they beautifully fill in those areas in the border where's there's a gap that's too big. They are repeat bloomers, with profuse flowers, and have excellent resistance to disease and other rose problems. Great for small vases inside as well. Zones 5-11, hybridized by Meilland International.
